TOPPAN’s News Letter October 2020

Toppan’s Newly Developed Product PP Film with Antivirus Finish
The first PP film obtained both Antivirus and Antibacterial certification in Japan.

It is our pleasure to introduce our newly developed product, PP film with Antivirus finish. It can significantly reduce the number of viruses and bacteria adhering to the surface. The surface layer consists of a special resin that has both antiviral and antibacterial function. This item is certified by SIAA (Antibacterial Product Technology Council), a third-party certification body, on September 1, 2020. This is the first PP decorative film in Japan that has obtained both antiviral processing and antibacterial processing certification.

Background and purpose

Under the current situation, many consumers are more concerned about hygiene; consequently, the demand for use of antiviral and antibacterial products in home, medical facilities, and commercial areas has increased.
Therefore, a new PP decorative film with antiviral and antibacterial has been developed and certified by SIAA in order to keep the environment clean and safe.

Antivirus and Antibacterial certification by SIAA

SIAA is a Japanese organization issuing certifications not only for antibacterial but also antivirus and mold prevention. The testing method for antivirus and antibacterial are based on the instructions of ISO21702 as well as ISO22196.

Sales territories

The sales territories are currently limited to Asia, North and South America, Oceania and Middle East due to the regulation of EPA and BPR. On the other hand, PP films and papers with antivirus and antibacterial finish are now under preparation for European countries.

product

[urban] Voyager appeals to the pleasure of travelling, to the constant transit of our daily routine. It connects with Generation Z, digital natives who have built a nomadic community for themselves. Trips for pleasure or for business which connect us to new people, enable us to broaden our horizons and to discover unexplored territories. It tells us about an era when the local and global are very present in our lives. Geographical mobility is the norm and the architectural design of interiors uses light designs appropriate for reduced spaces (micro-living).
[urban] Voyager reveals designs with fresh and joyful textures and patterns, in clear and natural tones adapted to today’s spaces.

NEW DECOR

  • BOHO OAK

“BOHO” is a mixed interior style, inspired from an ethnic "Bohemian“ style and a stylish "Soho“ inspiration.
Black and white stain treatments adds an artificially used feel to the design.

  • JETTY PAINT

By applying an opaque paint to the furniture, the wood compresses over time, and cracks appear on the surface.
A favorite furniture of mine that was painted and used continuously over the years.
